GREEN SAVIOURS ASSOCIATION

Background

Large scale deforestation caused by human activities, especially over the past four decades has severely impacted the ecological balance, caused climate change, reduction in soil fertility, large scale soil erosion, depletion of water sources, increased human-animal conflict, epidemics and the extinction of several species of native trees, plants and animals in addition to threatening food and livelihoods security for humans across the world.
Urban spaces have also seen a marked decline in vegetation leading to the creation of Urban Heat Islands, causing extreme weather events, a marked increase in pollution, depletion of water tables, reducing the availability of habitats for birds, insects and other species.
